Theresa W. Miller

Theresa W. Miller, 87, of Washington passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1:59A.M. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Theresa was born March 24, 1928 in Metamora to William and Anna Marie Waldschmidt Scheirer. She married Lawrence J. Miller Jr. on May 30, 1952 in Metamora. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Barbara (Mike) Fahel, Lawrence (Valerie) Miller III, Rita (Joe) Ernst, Raymond Miller, all of Peoria, Joan Miller of Dixon, Mary (Randy) Ragains of Eureka, Phyllis (John) DeWaard of Kanawha, IA, Vincent (Linda) Miller of Florissant, MO; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Risé Miller of East Peoria; two brothers, William Scheirer and Milton (Bernice) Scheirer; brother-in-law, Norbert Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Generose and Morris; 5 sisters, Lovina, Pearl, Anna Mae, Wilma, and Sister Anna Marie; 1 grandson, Jonathan; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth. Theresa graduated from Northwestern Academy of Beauty Culture on March 16, 1946 and worked as a beautician in Peoria for 6 years. She then spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her family. Theresa’s main focus in her life was her faith, her husband and their 8 children. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington since 1953, where she volunteered at the church and as a teacher’s aide at the school. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church and School or to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Reflections, A Memory Care Residence in Washington for all of their special care. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 10:00AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Father Stephen Willard will officiate. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington with recitation of the Rosary at 4:30 PM. There will be an additional visitation an hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning at the church. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora.
