Kevin R. Cox

Kevin R. Cox, 54, of East Peoria passed away at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at his home with his loving wife & son at his side, after a lengthy and hard fought battle with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. Kevin was born in Dubuque, Iowa on May 31, 1961 to Richard L. and Donna L.Cox, who survive, of Edwards, Il. He married his first love, Denise Frederick on April 30th, 1988, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. He is survived by his beloved wife Denise, and their son, Trent Michael; siblings, Tim (Julie) Cox of East Peoria, Karla Bothast of Peoria, Tom (Stephanie) Cox of Peoria, and Craig Cox of Peoria Heights; his father & mother-in-law Howard “Hap” (Sandy) Thrun of Barrington, Il.; brother-in-law Darrin (Jaime) Frederick of Peoria Heights; two sisters-in-law, Deborah (Bill) Nordsiek of East Peoria and Laura (Trent) Russell of Birmingham, AL; many nieces, nephews and countless very close friends and business associates. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Geno Frederick of East Peoria, and his grandparents of Dubuque. Kevin graduated from Richwoods High School in 1979 and Bradley University in 1982. He was founder and President of Meineke Car Care Center & Prospect Crossing shopping plaza in Peoria, and several other business ventures in which he took part with his brothers. Kevin loved to spend time with his family, especially his son, Trent, who played football at Metamora High School. Trent made him very proud. Kevin had many hobbies from tending to his garden or making sure the pH level was good in their pool for the many family members who came over during the summer to swim. He not only loved to travel, but enjoyed working out at the gym to get tough. ISYMFS! He left this earth without an enemy, a person genuinely interested in only the welfare & happiness of others. Kevin’s visitation will be from 4-7:00pm, Thursday December 10, 2015 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. A prayer service and time of remembrance will begin following the visitation at the funeral home.. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Sandra J. Schulze American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Rochester, MN or Mother’s Grace.
