Florence Mae Wylder

Florence Mae Wylder of Washington, IL, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on January 29, 1925 in Danville, IL to Jesse and Ollie Mae (Brown) Randolph. She married Alfred Wylder in Bismarck, IL on June 9, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harlin and Herman. Florence in survived by her daughter, Judy (Dave) Roemersberger of Washington and her son, Jim Wylder of Bloomington. She is also survived by 5 granddaughters, Kathleen (John) Feser, Kimberly (Phillip) Bachman, Elizabeth (Scott) Sederstrom, Kaitlin (Frank) O’Hare, Alexandra Wylder, and 9 great-grandchildren. Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. Over the years she made countless gifts for her family and friends. She also ran an upholstery business from her home for 14 years. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and baking. She especially enjoyed hosting family dinners and always made sure to have chocolate chip cookies in the cookie jar. Florence and her husband were charter members of Highview Christian Church and she recently attended the 50th Anniversary celebration of the church. She was actively involved in the women’s group, taught Sunday School and helped with Bible School. Florence spent many years as an election judge. She and Alfred enjoyed traveling and made many winter trips to Florida and throughout the United States. Although Florence never had any sisters, she had a very dear friend and neighbor, Rita Rosenberg. For over 65 years they shared many meaningful conversations and adventures. Florence found great joy in her family and will be dearly missed. The family would like to express their gratitude to Florence’s caregivers, Ruth, Sarah, Kim, Libby, Melissa, Tammy and Rosemary for their loving care. Memorials may be made to Highview Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Florence’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Highview Christian Church in Washington with Pastor’s James Frye and Phil Bachman officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 2nd from 4 to 6 p.m. at Highview Christian Church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
