David J. Schwab

East Peoria- David J. Schwab, 52, of East Peoria passed away at 7:04 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at his residence. He was born on February 3, 1957 in Peoria to Alfred and Margaret (Cage) Schwab. He married Cindy Madison on September 6, 1986 at St. Peter’s Church in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are daughter Jennifer Schwab of East Peoria; son Matthew Schwab of East Peoria; father Alfred Schwab, Jr.; 3 brothers Rick (Shirley) Schwab of Peoria, Steve (Doris) Schwab of Batavia, IL, and Mike (Terri) Schwab of Peoria; 4 sisters Jill (Daryl) Decker of Peoria, Lynn (Steve) Estes of Lacon, Julie (Roland) Harms of Peoria, and Amy (Ron) Maslen of Virginia Beach, VA; mother-in-law Betty Madison of Peoria; brother-in-law Jim (Julie) Madison of Taylor Ridge, IL; and 21 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. David worked at Keystone in the rod mill division for 33 years until his retirement in 2008 and was an active member at St. Monica’s Catholic Church. David volunteered in church activities such as St. Monica’s Catholic Church Religious Youth Instructor, Knights of Columbus and RCIA. He was also a founding member of East Peoria Youth Basketball, volunteered for the East Peoria Community High School Booster Club and the Blue and Gold Club at CJHS. He was involved in his kids’ sports activities having coached Jen in her travel basketball team from the 4th grade to her senior year in high school, coached Matt’s Mustang travel baseball team, and coached soccer for both Matt and Jen. A Funeral Mass for David will be held at 10 AM on Monday July 27, 2009 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria. Family will receive friends an hour prior to mass. Father Ken Marchulones will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria. A visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Sunday, July 26 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. A Recitation of the Rosary will take place at 5:45 PM during visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in David’s name to the Community Outreach Charity Fund c/o CEFCU or the American Cancer Society.
